Charmed

2009 May 15

I’m back from my Baltimore job-hunting trip.  Baltimore is known as “Charm City.”  (For those of you who are food network fans, hence the name Charm City Cakes w/ Duff.)

Anyway, each time I visit Baltimore, I am charmed.  I have to admit it.  It doesn’t matter how short the trip, I fall more in love with the area each time I visit.  I am looking forward to the day I secure a job and we can get relocated and plant our lives in the Baltimore area.

I did not come home from Baltimore with a job.  However, I was able to follow up with almost every resume I had sent out.  I also had a couple of great conversations with some key contacts that may develop into something later.  I am going to continue to send out resumes and press on to find a job as soon as I can, but there are some long-term possibilities already in place.  Pray for SOMETHING to break loose soon.

I drove a lot in 2 days.  I hit several areas from Annapolis to Bel Air and all points in between.  Not only did I get to find out where different architects were located, I continued to learn more about how the Baltimore area connects from area to area, and what communities occur between the key areas.  Such experience continues to expand and shape my vision for what we want to do long-term.

In the mean-time, I spent yesterday catching up with Emily and Katie. I am back to studying for the ARE today.

I am looking for anything and everything as far as contract-work.  If I can line up enough contract work or other forms of income before mid July, we will be relocating to Baltimore with-or-without a full-time job.

If you or anyone you know needs a house designed, addition drawn-up for a building permit, or other form of architectural (or structural) drawing, let me know!
